Baker Street Piazza
Places for London is developing proposals to transform the space outside Baker Street Station.
Around 25 million visits are made to Baker Street Station each year, but the space outside does not provide the welcoming sense of arrival that one of London’s most important and historic stations deserves.
We are in the very early stages of developing proposals that will create a greener, more accessible and welcoming destination that celebrates the station’s history and delivers a better experience for everyone who uses it.
The project focuses on the public space outside Baker Street Station. It does not include changes within the Underground station, train services or step-free access to the platforms. The proposals could however create new places to sit, meet and spend time outside the station, alongside greening, better lighting and improved accessibility.

Who is Places for London?
For over 160 years, Transport for London (TfL) has been at the heart of keeping the capital moving, shaping how people travel, live, and connect across the city. Throughout its history, TfL has been a driver of innovation, combining engineering, design, and forward-thinking solutions to support London’s growth.
Places for London, Transport for London’s property company, represents the next step in that evolution. As well as unlocking the potential from TfL land, Places also manages one of the most distinctive and diverse property portfolios, seamlessly integrated with the transport network including more than 1500 existing properties in our retail units, railway arches, offices and other commercial assets. Our estate is deeply embedded in the way the city functions - connected to movement, neighbourhoods, and daily life; we are responsible for creating thriving places across London while generating a growing and sustainable revenue stream for TfL.
We are proud of the diversity of our customers, 95 per cent of which are small and medium sized enterprises, with the businesses on our estate ranging from mechanics to event spaces, from coffee shops to builders’ merchants. Not only do we want to deliver new and improved places and properties across London to support the local economy, but we believe this must be done in a way which supports inclusive growth: economic growth for the benefit of all, in an environmentally sustainable way.
What are we exploring?
We are beginning to work with local communities, businesses and people who use the area, to understand their experiences and priorities before developing more detailed proposals.
At this early stage, the project team is exploring how the space could:
Provide a clearer and more welcoming gateway to Marylebone
Become easier and more accessible to navigate
Offer more places to sit, meet and spend time
Introduce additional planting and greenery
Celebrate the architecture and history of Baker Street Station
Create a better setting for local businesses
